Mindful Labs Founder and Guiding Teacher

Megan Leuchars

Megan Leuchars is a multifaceted entrepreneur who has been instrumental in the creation and success of many mindfulness ventures. Since attending her first meditation class in 2008, she has become a dedicated and indemand mindfulness teacher, both for individuals and organizations. Megan’s students thrive in her classes as a result of her warm and approachable personal style, her extensive knowledge and her obvious love for her work.

In addition to founding Mindful Labs, Megan is currently a Senior Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Instructor, a Certified Mindful SelfCompassion Instructor and Director of Outreach at UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness. She is also a cofounder of the San Diego Center for Wellbeing. Megan has developed and delivered unique customized mindfulness programs for Fortune 500 companies as well as for educational, healthcare, and academic settings, including clients such as Vision Service Plan, Rady Children’s Hospital, Illumina, FMG Leading, UCSD’s Rady School of Management’s Center for Executive Education, San Diego State University, California State University San Marcos and numerous others. In addition to teaching, she is one of the founders of the UCSD Center’s WorkLife Integration Program and teachertrainer for the UCSD Professional Training Institute’s MBSR Teacher Training Practicum.

In all her ventures, Megan’s passion and mission are the same: to empower individuals with an understanding of the important role they play in shaping the lives they want. Megan believes through compassionate awareness individuals are able to utilize the best resource they have: themselves.

Christy Cassisa

Christy’s career has traversed science, education, and the law. Her passion is helping people lead happier, healthier and more productive lives. Since discovering mindfulness meditation in 2010 and experiencing the transformational effects of the practice, she has made it her lifework to bring it to others

As one of the founders and the current Director of the UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness WorkLife Integration Programs , Christy has been deeply involved in the effort to bring mindfulness to workplaces of all kinds. She has developed numerous mindfulnessbased programs and workshops including Mindful Leadership, Mindfulness at Work, Introduction to Mindfulness for the Workplace and Brain Fitness for Lawyers. She has delivered programs for a wide variety of organizations, including the UCSD Rady School of Management Center for Executive Education, California Western School of Law, Illumina, Mazzetti, the San Diego County Bar Association, Latham Watkins, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the Women’s Legal Association of LA, and numerous others. She has presented at conferences such as the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) Annual Education Conference, American Bar Association National Conference on Professional Responsibility and the Global Equity Organization's National Equity Compensation Forum.

Christy has been trained to teach MindfulnessBased Stress Reduction with the UCSD MindfulnessBased Professional Training Institute and teaches MBSR for the UCSD Center for Mindfulness. She is also Principal Consultant with Donocle , a legal consulting company, along with being the founder of Mindful Clarity.

Christy’s previous professional life includes 9 years with Thomson Reuters as an account manager for Westlaw, she helped to found the professional effectiveness training program for legal practice at Barbri, worked in administration for the University of San Diego School of Law and as an adjunct professor for California Western School of Law. Christy graduated with a JD from the University of Missouri, Columbia School of Law and a BS in Life Sciences from Missouri Science & Technology, is certified to administer both the Myers Briggs Type Indicator® and the EQI 2.0, and is also trained as a professional coach.

Christy Pheil

Chris is a dedicated mindfulness teacher with over 10 years of personal meditation practice at Zen Center of San Diego. He has also completed the Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute 6-day MBSR training program, and the MBPTI teacher training practicum.

Chris has a passion for helping people discover the power of mindful awareness and the role it can play in transforming lives and improving well-being. In his role as a long time practitioner at ZCSD, he leads meditation instruction for beginning students. Chris also has nearly 30 years of experience working in the corporate world.

This wealth of experience gives him an insight and understanding of business culture and structure. He knows firsthand the pressure and stress faced each day in this environment, and he is uniquely qualified to bring mindfulness programs into the workplace, improving the quality of life on the job and at home. He believes a contemplative practice can serve as a source of peace, equanimity and compassion for ourselves and others. It’s his mission to share the practice in supportive, engaging and challenging mindfulness programs.
